Porsche has been on a winning streak, and today’s announcement from the company that it is expanding its automotive brand with the introduction of a new Porsche 918 Spyder.
The Porsche 919 Spyder is an all-new vehicle, replacing the current 918 Panamera SUV and 918 Turbo.
The company says the new vehicle will bring a fresh new dynamic to Porsche’s product portfolio, with an all new and innovative design, unique driving dynamics and an all of-new, new technology, which will combine to bring a whole new experience to our customers.
“In the wake of the Volkswagen emissions scandal, the global public has been craving new vehicles, and Porsche has taken the opportunity to redefine the concept of a sports car, which has long been defined by its sports cars, by creating the 918.
It also announced that it will continue to manufacture the 919 Turbo, as it is a more affordable version of the model, with more of the same engine and powertrain, which it has been selling for over 40 years.
The brand will now also sell the new 911 Turbo.
Porsche’s new 918 model will start in the UK in 2019, and is expected to be the fastest production car on the market, with production expected to begin in the autumn of 2020.
The car will be powered by a 2.0-litre flat-four petrol engine, with a maximum output of 646bhp and 530lb ft of torque.
It will have a top speed of 160mph and a range of 265 miles, making it the quickest Porsche to date.
The 918’s interior is set to be a more functional, with the driver being able to select from three seating positions: a standard, heated and reclined position, and an adjustable and reclining option.
It also features heated seats and a power-adjustable leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The 911 Turbo will be a direct competitor to the 917 Spyder, with some of its more premium features, such as heated seats, power-assist dual-zone climate control, rearview camera and rear cross-traffic alert feature.
Porcelain and glass will be the main elements in the exterior of the 925 Spyder as well, and the car will also be available in silver or black.
Porsche also announced a new colour scheme for the 927 sports car.
Perez has also announced it is adding a new luxury sports coupe to the lineup, the 928 Coupe.
It is a coupe that will be offered in four different finishes, with three different body colours: metallic black, white, silver and gold.
